Lawrie & Symington is thrilled to bring you the Halloween Drive-In Cinema Event for 2023.
We may be biased, but we think we’ve kicked it out of the pumpkin field with our listed films.
We’ve made sure to collate an absolute feast of frights offering the perfect level of quakes and shakes for pretty much everyone.
If you like your Halloween scares with a song, a laugh, a hot splash of red lipstick or if you’re more of an old school Scream seeker, you couldn’t be in better hands.
We kick things off on Saturday 28th October at 2pm with the ultimate Halloween family favourite, Hocus Pocus. We couldn’t possibly begin to think about celebrating the witchiest time of the year without including this Bette Midler tour de force. Rated PG this film is suitable for all of the family, but hey, you don’t need to bring the kids along…
The 80s were a true highpoint for horror. And nothing screams 80s more than Kiefer Sutherland and his peroxide spiked mullet in Joel Schumaker’s forever cool The Lost Boys, our early evening Saturday treat.
We finish off our first cinema night with the genre defying spectacle that is The Rocky Horror Picture Show. This premium level cult classic is not to be missed, so dammit Janet, why not head over to the Frankenstein Place and get Timewarping with the best of them.
On Sunday 29th October, let’s all take our seats for the creepiest, kookiest family on the block. The Addam’s Family will be showing at 2pm. If bringing the family, be prepared. Wednesday and Pugsley are not your average prankster kids.
Shaun of the Dead is our early evening Sunday screening and who knew a romantic comedy played out against a zombie apocalypse could be so much fun. With gore and laughs in equal measure this zom rom com will have you rooting for the unlikeliest of heroes…as soon as he realises something’s wrong, that is.
We wrap off the weekend with Wes Craven’s Scream. Redefining the slasher movie for a new generation the Scream franchise is still going strong today, but this is where it all started for Sydney Prescott…and ghostface!!! Oh and we already know you like scary movies.
On Monday 30th October we’re stepping up the scares.
Kicking things off at 7pm is The Ring. Never has VHS been more terrifying. Naomi Watts is tracking down a videotape responsible for the deaths of a group of teenagers…no seriously!!! This is a real race against time which terrifies team Lawrie & Symington in the daylight. Good luck out there in the dark!!!
Then at 11pm and only for the seriously committed horror aficionados out there we have IT. Nothing screams Halloween more than balloons and clowns. Just remember to keep those car windows closed.
And so to Halloween itself. A classic holiday with a classic film offer.
Alfred Hitchcock the master of suspense created a true cinematic masterpiece in Rear Window. Not your typical horror, we grant you, but this is edge of your seat stuff. James Stewart and Grace Kelly are iconic as they begin to suspect a neighbour of murder.
Our Halloween finale is the perfect horror movie. With Freddy Kruger, A Nightmare on Elm Street has arguably one of the greatest horror villains of all time. Grab your best stripey knitwear, get cosy and whatever you do…don’t fall asleep.
Happy Halloween.
